About Ed Ricketts
I started my real estate life soon after arriving in Phoenix, fresh out of graduate school at the University of Arizona in Tucson. We bought our first home, then added over the next few years several rentals. Parenthetical note: We ultimately dumped all our rentals and have been investing in hard money loans since (for me, a very sensible decision).
A Transformative Role
In 1991, I was appointed the Arizona Deputy Commissioner of Real Estate. ADRE has +/- 27 staff today and three deputy commissioners, but in my day we had more than twice as many staff members and only one Deputy Commissioner – me. I left ADRE in 1997 and went into the industry. I’ve been a licensed broker since then. My time at ADRE has made a lasting impression on the professional me. I like to characterize myself as a “recovering regulator.”
Pioneering Sustainable Development
I bounced around a number of brokerages and in 2003 became the broker of record for Loreto Bay, in Baja Mexico, the largest single family sustainable resort development in the Americas, where we embarked on building adobe homes (yes, adobe!) and international sales. We went under in 2009, but not without leaving a very significant footprint!
Arizona DB & Professional Services
In the past 6+/- years I have been the Arizona DB for Guardian Property Services, for 11 apartment communities.
Since leaving ADRE, I have continuously provided professional services as a confidential consultant, educator, school owner and expert witness. This Ed Ricketts Seminars website is the home base for my Zoom course offerings.
